How to Embed a Video Gallery on Your Product Pages

Overview

This guide shows you how to create a video gallery in Essential Grid Gallery and display it on your product pages, with the option to show a different gallery — or different videos — on each individual product.

Prerequisites

  • Essential Grid Gallery installed on your Shopify store
  • Subscribed to minimum Standard plan of the app.
  • Open the Essential Grid Gallery app from your Shopify admin.
  • Use a template to import a ready-made gallery layout.
  • Go to the Video Gallery template.
  • Install the gallery so it's added to your account.
  • Go to the gallery's Settings.
  • Go to Columns.
  • Set the number of columns you'd like the gallery to display, for example 3.
  • Save to apply the change.



  • Go to Naming.
  • Copy the Gallery ID shown there. You'll need it in the next part.



  • From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store.
  • Go to Edit theme to open the theme editor.



  • Switch the page selector to Products, then choose the product template you want to modify. This loads the sample product page you can edit.



  • Add a new block.
  • Go to Apps, then select Essential Product Media from the list.



  • In the Essential Product Media block settings, enter a default Gallery ID (Which is 0). This is the gallery that will show on any product that have the video links set in the product metaobject.
  • Next to Source metafield, go to the connect dynamic source option.
  • Search for and select Essential Grid Gallery Id. This lets each product show its own gallery by setting a value on that product, instead of always using the default.
  • Go to Save to apply the block to your product template.



  • Go to Products in your Shopify admin.
  • Open the product you want to customize.
  • Go to the Essential Grid Gallery Id field on the product page.
  • Enter the Gallery ID you want this specific product to use, for example 1.
  • Go to the Essential Grid YouTube Videos field.
  • Paste a YouTube video link into the input box, then go to Add item to add it to the gallery. Repeat for each additional video.
  • Save the product.



  • Preview the product on Online Store.
  • Go to the product page you customized to see the video gallery displayed live.

Your video gallery is now embedded and ready for customers to view.



Notes

  • The Gallery ID you set in Part 5 acts as the default for every product. Any product-level Gallery ID you set in Part 6 overrides it for that product only.
  • You can repeat Part 6 for as many products as you like, using a different Gallery ID or a different set of videos for each one.
  • If a product doesn't have its own Gallery ID set, it will automatically fall back to the default gallery from Part 5.
