How to Speed Up & Compress Essential Gallery Images with Fileora

Large, uncompressed gallery images are one of the biggest reasons Shopify stores feel sluggish. Heavy photos slow down your mobile page speed, test shoppers' patience, and hurt your conversion rates.


With the built-in Fileora integration in Essential Grid Gallery, you can compress your gallery photos, auto-generate SEO alt text, and turn on sleek blur-loading placeholders in just a few quick steps—without sacrificing image clarity.




Essential Grid Gallery includes a built-in health check that audits your photos and shows you exactly where your gallery can improve.


  1. In your Shopify Admin, open Apps > Essential Grid Gallery.
  2. Select the gallery you want to optimize.
  3. Look at the Gallery Optimization card on the right side:

If your images are uncompressed or missing search-friendly descriptions, you will see yellow notice tags next to Image compression, Alt text (SEO), and Blur placeholder.



Step 2: Sync and Compress Images with Fileora


  1. In the optimization panel, select Compress images using Fileora:

  1. Choose Open in Fileora.

(If you don't have Fileora installed yet, follow the quick prompt to add it from the Shopify App Store).

  1. Head back to Essential Grid Gallery and choose Sync this gallery to push your gallery photos directly into Fileora:

  1. Once your gallery folder opens inside Fileora, tick the Select All checkbox to select every image:


  1. In the top action bar, hit Compress:

Fileora will optimize and compress your photos in the background while keeping them visually sharp.



Step 3: Add SEO Alt Text with One Click


Search engines like Google use Alt Text to understand what your photos show. Adding good Alt Text helps your products appear in Google Image search results.


  1. Inside Fileora, choose any photo row and open More actions > View Details.
  2. Next to the Alt text box, select Auto-Generate:

  1. Fileora's smart generator will instantly create a relevant, descriptive alt tag for your photo.
  2. Hit Save Alt Text.



Step 4: Verify Your Green Score & Enable Blur Loading


  1. Return to your gallery inside Essential Grid Gallery and hit Check again:

Your status indicators will now turn green ✅:

  • Image compression: Optimized
  • Alt text (SEO): Optimized
  • Blur placeholder: Enabled

Follow these steps below,

  1. In the gallery editor sidebar, open Settings > Smart Loading.
  2. Under the loading options, select lazy-loading-blur:

  1. Hit Save Gallery in the top-right corner.


Your gallery is now fully optimized! Visitors will enjoy instant blurred placeholder previews and rapid-loading photos on any device.
